Good news! All schools now have internet access, and the phone service to South Primary is restored. Thank you for your patience. We appreciate the prompt response time of our providers.
Good morning. Like many others in our area, we are experiencing an internet outage. All internal systems are working; however, the district is currently unable to receive outside email communications. South Primary is unable to take incoming calls due to an AT&T outage. All other buildings have phone service. Please contact the main line at 618-254-7541 for any communications for South Primary. We apologize for this inconvenience. We will send additional notifications when services are restored.

Congratulations to our students that earned High Honor Roll for 1st Semester!
Due to the dangerously cold temperatures expected in the early morning, there will be NO SCHOOL Tuesday, January 16.
Parents,
As a reminder, we only have two days of school this week- Monday and Tuesday. On both days, jr. high students will be dismissed at 1:40pm. We wish you all a safe and happy holiday break! School resumes January 4th.
The Jr. High Chorus Concert is tomorrow, December 12th at 6:30pm in the Auditorium. The Band Concert will follow in the Auditorium at 7:30pm.
We hope to see everyone there!
UPDATE regarding the Junior High Chorus Concert:
This is a reminder that we will be having our Junior High Choir Concert on December 12th at 6:30 in the RHS auditorium.
Students should plan to arrive at 6:10 pm and meet in the RHS Commons. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.
After discussing with students, 7th and 8th grade Concert Choir will be wearing concert black, and 6th Grade Chorus will be wearing festive Christmas attire. 7th and 8th grade students can choose to wear a Christmas accessory (hat, headband, earrings, etc.) as long as it doesn’t light up or make noise.
Please be aware that this performance is required for students enrolled in Chorus as part of their semester grade. We have been working toward this concert all semester, and students are depending on their fellow classmates to make this event successful. It is a great opportunity for students to perform in front of an audience, an experience that is impossible to recreate in a classroom during the school day. All grade levels are sounding great, and excited to share their performance with our school community.
Congratulations to Willow Gross and Brooke Pauley on their selection to represent our school at Belleville West High School this past weekend. Both students performed vocal (singing) auditions in October and were selected to perform in the ILMEA District 6 Junior Treble Choir this past Saturday. They spent the morning rehearing alongside other selected vocalists from all over Southern Illinois and then the choir gave an excellent, afternoon performance.
Well done to both Willow and Brooke for qualifying for this honor.
Friends and families of Roxana Junior High School,
RJHS's very own Elizabeth Schaab has been named one of Emerson's 2023 Excellence in Teaching Awards honorees! We are so proud of Ms. Schaab for her continued dedication to our students and for demonstrating true excellence in education. #ExcellenceInTeaching
Congratulations, Ms. Schaab!!!
Good evening, families. To show support for our varsity football team and its historic playoff run, we are encouraging all students and staff to wear red tomorrow to school. We wish the football team and coaching staff success Saturday against Mt. Carmel.
Dave Oestreich
RJHS Principal
HOUSE UPDATE:
Congratulations to our first quarter house winners:
6th grade- Jasiri
7th grade- Sakati
8th grade- Jasiri
The students in those grade level houses will be bringing home a permission slip today to attend a movie at the Roxana Nazarene Theater. All students will receive a soda and popcorn. The theater charges $5 per student. We are asking parents to send in $3 for their student to offset the cost, but no student will be excluded if they cannot pay. If anyone in the community would like to sponsor a student or two for these trips, donations can be made to Roxana Jr. High. 254-7561.
