Recording in Class Without Permission is Prohibited
Dear Students and Families,
We want to remind all students that recording audio or video in the classroom is a violation of the student handbook unless specifically authorized by the teacher or administration. This includes the use of cell phones, laptops, tablets, and auto-note taking software.
Why is this important?
Privacy & Confidentiality – Students and staff have a right to privacy. Unauthorized recordings can violate personal and legal protections.
Classroom Integrity – Open discussion and learning require a safe environment where students feel comfortable sharing ideas without concern of being recorded.
Prevention of Misuse – Unauthorized recordings can be altered, shared, or misinterpreted in ways that could harm individuals or disrupt the educational process.
Violations of this policy will result in the following disciplinary actions:
First Violation – Device confiscation and a warning. Device privileges revoked/suspended for one week.
Second Violation – Detention and parent notification Device privileges revoked/suspended for 10 days .
Repeated Violations – Additional disciplinary measures, including loss of device privileges for the remainder of the quarter/semester, suspension, or further action per the student handbook.
Students who require recording as an accommodation should work directly with their teacher and administration to receive the proper permissions. Let’s all do our part to maintain a respectful, focused, and safe learning environment.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
Yours in Education,
Jason Dandurand, Ed. S.
