Roxana: As the academic year draws to a close, Roxana Senior High School is gearing up to honor its graduating class of 2024 in a memorable Commencement Ceremony set to take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will be held outdoors on Charles Raich Field, weather permitting.
This year, a total of 106 graduates will walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Families, friends, and members of the community are invited to join in celebrating this significant milestone in the lives of these young individuals.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to Larry Milazzo Gymnasium. For indoor seating, each graduate will receive eight tickets to distribute to their guests. However, no tickets will be required for those attending if the ceremony is outdoors.
Among the highlights of the ceremony, the graduation ceremony will feature speeches from several notable individuals, including Valedictorians Alayna Gehrs and Evan Wells, Salutatorian Christopher Walleck, and Senior Class President Abigayle Gehrs. Other Silver Medallion recipients including Aidan Briggs, Joshua Gilbert, Grace Ray, Calista Stahlhut, Joseph Whetzel and Aubrey Wiegand will assist in presiding over the ceremony. These student leaders will share their reflections, memories, and words of wisdom as they bid farewell to their high school years and embark on the next chapter of their lives.
Special recognition will be given to Owen Wieneke, who will be honored for his remarkable achievement of lifetime attendance. Throughout his entire career in the Roxana School District, Wieneke never missed a single day of school, a testament to his perseverance and commitment to education.
Additionally, Joshua Gilbert will be awarded the Impact Student of the Year honor for his outstanding contribution to the community and region with over 117 hours of dedicated service. Gilbert's exemplary commitment to making a positive difference has left a lasting impact on both his peers and the local community.
The Roxana Senior High School graduation ceremony promises to be a memorable and meaningful occasion, as the school community comes together to celebrate the achievements and future aspirations of its graduating class.
