Good morning Shells! Today is Monday, April 8th, 2024.
Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
April is Genocide Awareness Month, so every monday of this month, we are going to provide some information about what genocide is. Each time we talk about Genocide Awareness Month during the announcements we will end the section with a question for you to think about and that will be answered next week.
Genocide means trying to destroy a group of people because of who they are. The word genocide was created in the 1940s by Raphael Lemkin, a Polish-Jewish lawyer. Lemkin lost most of his family in the Holocaust, one of the most famous genocides. Why do you think we are talking about genocide? Why do you think we should commemorate Genocide Awareness Month?
Prom is coming up on May 4th.
Prom Guest Forms are now available in the Main Office. All forms must be completed and turned back into the Main Office by Tuesday, April 30th before 3:30pm. Forms will not be accepted after April 30th.

We are looking for a student who is interested in being our mascot, Shelldon, next school year at football games, pep assemblies, and other school events. If you are at all interested in being in the mascot suit next year, please see Mrs. Palen, Mr. Briggs, or Mr. Miller for more information.
There will be a meeting for any boy interested in playing soccer next fall. The meeting will be this Wednesday at 1:35pm in the Auxiliary Gym. This meeting is for anyone who played last year or is considering playing soccer this coming season.
Today, we will be in the path of a near total eclipse. This is a rare occasion and an exciting learning opportunity for us all. To protect students and staff, we have acquired eclipse viewing glasses for all students, faculty, and staff.
We will run the Wednesday Advisory schedule today and there is a Focus Alert regarding the Eclipse during 2nd hour today.
