Dear Parent:
On April 8, 2024, Roxana will be in the path of a near total eclipse. This is a rare occasion and an exciting learning opportunity for the students. Notably, there are dangers associated with looking directly at the sun to view the eclipse. To protect students, we have acquired eclipse viewing glasses for all students, faculty, and staff.
Because there are safety concerns involved, we are asking all parents to consent to their child’s viewing of the near total solar eclipse at school using district-provided safety glasses. By signing this agreement, you are hereby certifying that:
I hereby give consent for my child to participate in the School’s solar eclipse viewing, using the provided eyewear for safety.
I understand that the District will not check every student for the duration of the solar eclipse to ensure they are properly wearing their glasses.
I understand that my child will be expected to adhere to all rules regarding viewing of the solar eclipse, including wearing their safety glasses at all times.
I understand that this form is valid for the April 8, 2024, solar eclipse only.
Roxana School District No. 1 cannot completely mitigate the risks associated with watching the solar eclipse. Therefore, participation in the viewing will be completely voluntary.
Please complete the following permission slip:
