Good morning Shells! Today is Thursday, February 29th, 2024.
Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
As we enter the last week of Black History Month, keep in mind that sometimes we don’t even realize the impact we make. As Rosa Parks once said, “I had no idea that History was being made. I was just tired of giving up.”
Today, as part of our school safety initiative, magnets will be pulled from doors during instructional times right when the tardy bell rings. Students are encouraged to get to classes on time to avoid classroom disruption. In addition, the CTE building perimeter doors will now be locked during instructional times, late students will need to report to the office to be escorted and let in to gain access if arriving after the tardy bell.
The Esports team is looking to participate in the IHSEA Spring Season which means we are looking for students to compete in the following games:
Apex Legends, Call of Duty: MWIII, Rocket League
Please email caleb.sutton@rcusd.org if you are interested. Even if you are interested in a game that was not listed, please still email as we will do our best to find a place for you to play.
Outdoor Track practice will officially begin on Monday, March 5th. Any athletes interested who did NOT participate in indoor track will have a mandatory meeting after school tomorrow in Larry Milazzo Gym.
Seniors: If you are planning to attend Lewis & Clark Community College in the fall, you have the opportunity to register early on March 13th during their High School Registration Day. Check your email for a message from Mrs. Hansen with all the details and how to sign up.
SIUE is having their annual college fair on March 20th! You can take advantage of so many resources at such a convenient location to gather information and get your questions answered. Students received an email from Mrs. Garrison with much more information.
SIUE is holding a Cybersecurity Career Day on March 22nd. This event is a fantastic opportunity for high school students to delve into the world of cybersecurity through engaging hands-on activities. Attendees will have the chance to connect with local professionals and representatives from colleges, gaining valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities available in the cybersecurity field. Any junior or senior interested, please see Mrs. Palen for more information.
We will be on our regular bell schedule today.
Make it a great day, Shells!
