Daily Announcements

Good morning Shells! Today is Friday, February 2nd, 2024.

Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,

and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Today, as we think about black history month, let’s keep in mind the following quote by Ava DuVernay: “When we’re talking about diversity, it’s not a box to check. It is a reality that should be deeply felt and held and valued by all of us.”

Our cheerleaders perform at State in Bloomington today at 11:05am.

We will livestream our cheerleaders performance at State today in the Auditorium. Teachers may bring their classes to the Auditorium so that we can all cheer on our cheerleaders together. Our squad performs at 11:05am, so you will want to get to the Auditorium by 11:00am.

The English Department is hosting SAT prep sessions for Juniors starting NEXT Wednesday, the 7th, on our Club/Organization Wednesday. Sessions will take place every Wednesday during Advisory (1:40 - 2:40) until the exam on March 21. See Ms. Turley to sign up or if you need more information. Please note that if you are required to stay for the Academic RTI Wednesday sessions, you must attend them and not sign up to attend SAT Prep.

We will have our Q2 Zero Hero (Nacho Bar) today, Feb. 2nd during 5A and 5B lunch.

Ms. Pointer will distribute tickets this morning for teachers to hand out to our students who earned this honor.

Our boys and girls basketball teams play against Wood River on Saturday at the EAWR Shootout. Our girls play at 12:45pm and the boys play at 4:15pm. Tickets are $10 for the Shootout and are good for all day.

Good luck to our wrestlers as they compete in the IHSA Regional Saturday at Carlyle.

A reminder to our January Midwest Members Students of the Month: Please meet in Mr. Miller’s office at 9:40, the beginning of 3rd hour today.

Make it a great day, Shells!
