Daily Announcements

Good morning Shells! Today is Monday, October 23rd.

Please stand for a moment of silence after the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,

and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Today is the first day of Red Ribbon Week. We hope you enjoyed the encouraging messages as you entered the building. This year’s theme is “Be KInd to Your Mind: Live Drug Free.” Today, we encourage you to think about vaping. Did you know vaping puts you at risk of exposure to many harmful chemicals? These chemicals can cause cancer and harm almost every organ in your body. Teens are especially sensitive to nicotine’s addictive effects because teen brains are still developing and this makes it easier to get hooked. Using nicotine at a young age can also rewire your brain to become more easily addicted to other drugs. We hope this week will encourage you to take the pledge to live drug free.

Just a friendly reminder that the Student Center is for Seniors only during lunch. If you are not a senior, you need to eat and stay in the Commons.

Seniors, this Thursday is your Senior Class Panoramic Picture. Wear your Senior Shirt or red that day for the photo. You will be dismissed to the Large Gym after the Jostens Assembly.

Mark your calendars. Are you looking for something to do on your half day Thursday? History club is sponsoring a showing of The Crucible in the auditorium at 4 o’clock. You don’t have to be in history club to attend. It’s like going to the movies for free.

Tutoring at Central begins today at 3:05 at Central Elementary. If you signed up as a tutor, please be at Central by 3:00. If you did not indicate Monday as a day when you were available, please show up next week on the day(s) that you did indicate availability.

You will continue to arrive for your service hours and then will receive pay if you are interested in continuing. There will be a sign in sheet so no need to call ahead of time if you are unable to make it that day. Please be aware that the Central students are counting on you for your assistance though.

Godfrey Park and Rec is looking for soccer officials and officials for other sports. If you are interested in becoming an official for soccer and other sports in Godfrey, please pick up an application in the main office.

Bowling practice will start this week. If you attended the bowling meeting, check your email for information from coach Ogle including the practice schedule for the next two weeks. If you have any questions contact coach Ogle.
